School health programme for diabetic awareness

ADWA has undertaken another task which could have a significant long term impact in checking the diabetes epidemic The association have begun a programme of diabetes awareness and lifestyle modification in schools. The target are young children in the age group of 10-14 years. We conduct a short interactive session in these schools with twin objectives on making the children think about why diabetes is a global epidemic today and that could thy do to lead healthy lifestyle and avoid diabetes. The reasoning behind this programme is that such messages given to young children at an impressive age will have a much greater long term impact. With the leadership of Urmila Griffith (Diabetic Educator – England) ADWA conduct so many school health programmes in and around Ernakulam city in the month of November 2014.
